Today my rich uncle (who I RARELY speak to and have only seen 5-10 times in my life) called my sister and told her that he heard she was struggling with debts (she is) and offered to pay off her biggest loan.
The biggest loan she had was a $100,000 loan which she had paid down to about $89,000 in the last 2-3 years. My sister and I have cried a bunch of times since he called and might cry a few more times before the week is over.
I can’t tell you how much this means to my family. We all contribute towards her loan in various ways, and we do everything we can to help each other out as we all are struggling with debt.
Not only that, but everyone in my family works in some sort of non-profit human services industry (my sister is a grief counselor, my brother works at a rehab center for psychiatric drug addiction, I am a teacher) and make non-profit livings—read: we’re poor.
100% of our money goes towards bills, and not having this HUGE bill of the loan in our family is going to improve the quality of our lives so much.
We are all making him thank you cards. This is what I made for him today in Laguna Beach.
I am so blessed and thankful for my uncle. I aspire to be like him.
His love and kindness GMH.
